The Beautiful South and Madness in concert 14/03/2005

Any TVR owners fancy seeing The Beautiful South or Madness this summer? Well, both bands are playing outdoor concerts at Bedgebury Pinetum in Kent (near Tunbridge Wells) on consecutive nights over the weekend of 11th-12th June 2005.

The Beautiful South are playing on Saturday 11th June and Madness are playing on Sunday 12th June. It could be a great summer event to take a load of TVR's down and Racing Green TVR is happy to organise the run if there is sufficient interest from TVR land.

Northern pop legends The Beautiful South will take to the stage in the first of the two concerts with their delightful blend of luscious melodies and subversive lyrics on the Saturday. Born from the ashes of indie-pop group The Housemartins, The Beautiful South were formed by vocalist Paul Heaton and drummer David Hemmingway in 1989 in their hometown of Hull.

The Beautiful South rose to fame in the late eighties with chart topping songs such as Perfect 10, Don't Marry Her, You Keep it All In and Rotterdam. In 1994, Carry On Up The Charts became one of the biggest selling albums in the UK since Simply Red's Stars – initially buoyed by the Christmas rush, it just kept on selling and selling. What Carry On Up the Charts confirmed was their pre-eminence as one of the UK's finest singles bands.

Madness will take to the stage on the Sunday at this unique venue with their energetic dance hits and unique blend of music as one of six special gigs at six very special forest locations as part of the annual Forest Tour concert programme this summer.

In the 80's, Madness became the best-loved British pop act since The Beatles and the biggest selling singles act of the decade.

In an era when The Specials, The Beat and The Selector became famous for their ska sounds, Madness brought their own style of ska with classic motown dance rhythms, zany jazz tracks and stylish wit.

Hits such as One Step Beyond, My Girl, Baggy Trousers, House of Fun and Our House are sure to get the crowd dancing the night away in true Madness style.

If anyone wants to go to either or both of these concerts can they e-mail concerts@racinggreentvr.com with an idea of numbers etc so that we can see if it is worth organising. There are not too many tickets left currently for The Beautiful South so we need to know fairly quickly if we are to get behind it.
