Billet crankshafts for the TVR Speed 6 engine

Racing Green TVR has commissioned new crankshafts for the TVR Speed 6 engine to allow the further development of the capabilities of this engine. Racing Green TVR first designed a new crankshaft in 2007 but the development of the FFF cylinder head was the major focus of their attention. However with the finalisation of the FFF and all its benefits our attention has refocused on the crankshaft as a potential weakness in the supercharged version of the TVR Speed 6 engine.

Racing Green TVR’s focus on the Speed 6 engine has been to consistently reduce rotating mass and internal loads in the engine to liberate wasted horsepower. With the designs of the FFF cylinder head and Simplex timing gear now in production and fitted to a number of customers cars the crankshaft will inevitably be the next stage of the evolution of the TVR Speed 6 engine.

Racing Green approached all the major manufacturers of crankshafts in the UK and have finalised their decision as to their preferred supplier and have now signed an exclusive deal for the supply of ultimate crankshafts for the TVR Speed 6 engine. These EN40B nitrided crankshafts to Racing Green TVR’s design will be available in a number of different strokes for both normally aspirated and supercharged variants.

These crankshafts will be manufactured to the highest specifications on the latest Mori Seiki NT 4250 5 axis CNC machines as used in the highest levels of F1 manufacturing. Initially roughed out from billet EN40B, fully stress relieved, second machined and nitrided with final machining and balancing these crankshafts will be the ultimate specification for the TVR Speed 6 engine whether normally aspirated or supercharged, road or race.
