Racing Green TVR have spent the last few months meeting with potential new suppliers and have at last been able to appoint the new supplier for the FFF cylinder heads. Agreements were signed earlier this week to allow the next generation of FFF heads to be cast and machined in the
The FFF cylinder heads have now been fitted to some 15 cars and all customers have been extremely pleased with the results but the change in supplier will allow further developments to be initiated. The new supplier is an established performance cylinder head design and machining house with roots going back to the extreme end of the performance scale- F1.
Following further flowbench and valve train analysis it is clear that the FFF cylinder head has huge further potential that the previous suppliers were not able to fully understand and Racing Green TVR are now going to exploit. The valve train is going to be redesigned to increase air flow and reduce mass. The robust 7mm valve stem as used on the original Speed 6 finger follower engine will now be reduced to 6mm and further sophisticated cam design will reduce the size of cam buckets from 35 to 33mm. This allows the valve spring retainer to be reduced in size significantly and the valve spring to be reduced in strength accordingly. More aggressive cam profiles will then exploit all these benefits.
The next FFF heads will be available in early 2010 and will dominate the high horsepower TVR Speed 6 engine builds. In conjuction with the ever popular Omex engine management system this will make the TVR Speed 6 engine a force to be reckoned with.
