Fitting instructions for Camshaft Oil Feed Kit.
11/01/2011
We are getting a few questions regarding the fitment of our oil feed kit to supply extra oil feed to the rear of the exhaust cam.
The kit fits all TVR Speed 6 cylinder heads as far as we are aware but there is a minor amount of machining required to the back of the cylinder head which can only be done when the cylinder head is off the engine and ideally stripped. The oil feed to the back of the cylinder head is achieved using the 7/16th UNF banjo bolt so this has to be fitted to the rear of the exhaust cam area of the cylinder head. There is already a drilling in the correct place but it is a blind 8mm thread hole. This drilling should be on the finger follower shaft centre line but is not drilled through. This drilling has to be opened out to accept a 7/16th UNF tap and drilled through to the finger follower shaft. Once this is done the drilling should be tapped to 7/16th UNF thread for the required depth of the banjo bolt.
The straight "banjo" fitting is then secured when required using the banjo bolt and the 2 7/16ths UNF copper washers.
The other end of the braided oil hose goes to the oil pressure sender block mounted on the offside inner front wing by where the airbox fits.
The flexible pipe is not cut to length as the position of the oil pressure block varies from car to car. Once you are comfortable with the run of this pipe to the oil pressure sender block cut the pipe to the correct length.
From the oil pressure sender block remove the flexible oil feed pipe and the fitting that attaches this pipe to the block. The angled banjo fitting then fits to this block using the modified bulkhead connector and the 2 3/8th copper washers. Once this is secured the flexible oil feed pipe can be re-attached to the new external threaded section.
Check all fittings on engine start and notice that this oil pipe to the rear of the cylinder head warms up with the engine indicating oil flow to the rear of the exhaust camshaft hence increasing oil pressure and flow to this part of the exhaust finger follower shaft.
